Murray Hill Boasts Largest Citi Bike Dock In NYC History

With the recent addition of 30 docks at East 35th Street and the East River, the station now has a record 79 docks.

MURRAY HILL, NY — A record for the largest Citi Bike station in New York City history has been set in Murray Hill, according to a spokesperson for the bike share system.

Workers recently beefed up the East 35th Street and East River station with an addition 30 docks, putting the total number of docks in the area at 79. The station is conveniently located next to one of the busiest NYC Ferry terminals, making it a great connection point for the two services.

"We're thrilled to be moving ahead on our infill plan and beefing up service in Citi Bike's busiest areas -- including installing the biggest station to date," Citi Bike spokesperson Julie Wood said in a statement. "This new, 79-dock superstation will improve bike share access for both everyday commuters and visitors on Manhattan's East Side."

The dock additions at East 35th Street are part of an initiative to add 1,250 more bikes and 2,500 more docks at some of the city's busiest Citi Bike stations. Other stations located between Canal and 59th Street in Manhattan and in North Brooklyn are also due for capacity upgrades, a Citi Bike spokesperson said.

The initiative has resulted in 350 new docks as of early January and is expected to bring many more docks to the system before the spring season's warm weather.
