MURRAY HILL, NY — While many New Yorkers were diving head-first into their Thanksgiving festivities, a few select realtors in Murray Hill were working to secure the city's most expensive contract of the week.
A contract was signed for a brownstone townhouse at 21 E. 37th St. between Madison and Park avenues, listed for $14.5 million, according to a listing by Browns Harris Stevens. Olshan Realty's weekly report revealed that the contract was the most expensive one during the week of Nov. 21 to Nov 27 among residential properties purchased for more than $4 million.
The property was previously sold in 1997 for $1.6 million, according to the Olshan Report.

John B. Trevor, a prominent attorney who worked for J.P. Morgan and Co., built the property in 1860, the listing says.
The 9,300-square-foot building still possesses original details inside and out, according to the listing. There are decorative, 13-foot ceilings; a large, original wooden door; and unique mosaics.

A marble fireplace, domed ceiling, and an "exquisitely crafted music room" complete the front parlor, and the listing describes the property as the "centerpiece" of three mansions that were originally built together. The garden floor holds a conference room, a bedroom, and a garden, according to the listing's floor plan.
The third floor was transformed into a superintendent's apartment and a bedroom on that floor faces the nearby Morgan Library, which is also on 37th St. The fourth floor features two bedrooms, a washer and dryer, a walk-in closet, and a full bath, according to the listing. There are two more bedrooms on the fifth floor and a kitchen.
A curved staircase leads to an open rooftop featuring views of The Empire State Building.
We've reached out to Browns Harris Stevens to ask who signed the contract, but a representative did not immediately return a request for comment.
