Power Outages In Flatiron District Hit Hundreds

The outages impacted more than 500 of ConEdison customers Thursday evening.

FLATIRON DISTRICT — Power outages left part of the Flatiron District in the dark Thursday evening after a day of sweltering heat. The outages impacted more than 500 ConEdison customers on East 22nd Street, Broadway and Park Avenue, according to the utility company's online map.

ConEd has a crew on the scene and estimates power will be restored by 7 p.m., the map shows. The company is still investigating the cause of the problem.

The outages forced some local businesses to close, photos posted to Twitter show. The location is near the site of last month's steam pipe explosion, which injured five people and forced mass evacuations.
