MANHATTAN, NY — Get ready for seven miles worth of Manhattan's streets to be completely pedestrianized.

The city's annual Summer Streets 2019 programming will shut down seven miles of streets to motor vehicles, opening them up to pedestrians on Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

From the Brooklyn Bridge at Chambers Street, running north of Lafayette Street to Park Avenue all the way to Central Park, the streets will be open to people.

The lengthy corridor running north-to-south of Manhattan will be open for people to play, run, walk and bike during that six hour period August 10 and 17. Last Saturday, August 3 was the kick-off.

Five rest stops are slotted on the way — at Foley Square, SoHo, Astor Place, Midtown at 25th Street and Uptown at 51st Street. The rest stops will be fitted with activities, from a rock wall and zipline to a dance festival and city picnic area. Activities vary depending on time and date, which you can read more information about here.
