Watch: Raccoon, Real New Yorker, Risks Life And Limb To Ride NYC Subway

It's a miracle this little guy made it out of the MTA system alive.

MANHATTAN, NY — An adorable little NYC raccoon put his young life on the line last Tuesday when he boarded a rattly, decrepit, decades-old 6 train — at risk of breaking down or blacking out or running off the rails or smashing into a tunnel wall, or any number of other MTA doomsday scenarios haunting NYC in 2017, at any given second — all the way up the east side of Manhattan.

And through it all, our raccoon, real New Yorker that he is, just kept on slurping up scraps from a little Tupperware bowl that some woman was holding for him (just go with it), unflinching in the face of danger.

The raccoon's daredevil stunt was caught on video by equally brave Australian hottie and Instagram celeb Brooke Hogan. (Want more news from your NYC neighborhood? Sign up here to receive Patch's free morning newsletters and real-time alerts.)

Hogan told local news outlets she stumbled upon the strange urban-wildlife scenario after boarding the uptown 6 train last Tuesday at 42nd Street in Murray Hill.

Speculation has since abounded, of course, as to the raccoon's relationship with the woman seen nonchalantly feeding him from the next seat over.

"The animal seemed to be the prized pet of the woman holding it and feeding it — even though New York City law doesn't allow raccoons to be kept as pets," CBS2 anchor Alex Denis said on air Tuesday morning, throwing more shade at raccoon lady than the most atrocious luxury tower on West 57th could ever dream of casting over Central Park, as her co-anchor, Dick Brennan, interjected with a series of judgy grunts such as "Oh, man," and "Oh, no, no, no."

"There's so much wrong with this," Denis said. "We need to tell her..."

"There's a lot going on there," Brennan said, interrupting. "None of it's good. Has she heard of RABIES?"

"Yeah, that's the first thing I was thinking," Denis sneered.

"Yeah, really — nice going," Brennan added with a scoff.

And then, in the harshest burn of the whole 30-second segment, Denis made the following face.

To be honest, though, we're just glad everyone made it out of the 6 train unscathed that day.

Because as we now know, if this little Snow White scene had played out exactly one week later aboard another MTA train headed the opposite direction on the opposite side of Manhattan, raccoon and company might not have been so lucky. More on that whole mess here.
