WATCH: Shocking Video Shows Robber Yanking Old Man's Cane

A robber tossed a 70-year-old man to the ground to steal $15 from his wallet.

FLATIRON, NY — A robber yanked an old man's cane away from him to steal $15 from his wallet as the man was walking near Madison Square Park on Tuesday, police said

Shocking surveillance footage from the area shows the robber approaching the 70-year-old man from behind as the man walks in front of 315 Park Avenue South. The attack, which happened on Tuesday at about 11:30 a.m., began when the robber yanked the old man's cane from behind, causing the old man to fall to the ground, according to the video footage. The robber then grabs the old man's wallet, before helping the old man back onto his feet when passers-by begin to stare at the scene, the video shows.

While the robber is pulling the old man to the side of the sidewalk, one pedestrian takes out his headphones to look at the altercation before continuing on his way down the sidewalk.

The old man then takes some cash from the wallet before running away on East 24th Street, authorities said. Police said the thief took $15 from the man's wallet.

The robber has not yet been located or arrested by authorities.
