This Is Where Gramercy Hates Mr. Softee
A new study shows where Gramercy residents lack a soft spot for the ice cream trucks and their jingles.

GRAMERCY, NY — New Yorkers may scream for ice cream, but they're screaming mad at Mr. Softee and the iconic ice cream truck jingle.
A stretch of Gramercy is among dozens of neighborhoods that do not have a soft spot for Mister Softee, according to a new report from Localize.city.
The study, titled "Where New Yorkers are Least Chill with the Mister Softee Song," reviewed more than 1,200 complaints to 311 about the pesky purveyors of sweet treats in a yearlong period ending on Aug. 15.

A corridor between Union Square and Madison Square parks ranked second in the city — behind Captain Tilly Park in Jamaica, Queens — for the highest concentration of Mr. Softee gripes, with complaints logged on 45 days, according to the report.
The crowded plazas are a heated battle ground for the frozen treats where some trucks vie for customers into the colder months. A few New Yorkers even groused about the jingles to 311 in December and February, the data analysis website found.
