Where to Participate in MulchFest Near Murray Hill

Murray Hill, Gramercy residents can drop off their Christmas trees at 20th Street Loop in Stuyvesant Town Jan. 7-8.

STUYVESANT TOWN, NY — Don't know what to do with your Christmas tree now that the holiday is over? Bring your tree to MulchFest at 20th Street Loop east of First Avenue in Stuyvesant Town Jan. 7-8.

New Yorkers can drop off their trees and see them recycled into mulch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during MulchFest. The mulch is then used to nourish plantings across the city, according to the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation.

"MulchFest is one of the many annual events that I look forward to because it’s such an easy way to show our commitment to caring for parks across the city," Parks Commissioner Mitchell J. Silver said in a statement. "By repurposing Christmas trees we provide plenty of mulch which serves to reinvigorate New York City’s urban forest."
