2 Dix Hills Lacrosse Players Named Team Captains at Washington College

From Half Hollow Hills High Schools West and East to Chestertown, Maryland.

Two Dix Hills residents are among three Long Islanders who were named Washington College women's lacrosse team captains for the 2017 season.

Defender Anna Inserra, a Half Hollow Hills High School West graduate, and midfielder Cara Pascarella, a Half Hollow Hills High School East graduate, will join goalie Haylee Solomon, of Wantagh, to lead the Shorewomen.

This is the second straight season Inserra was named a team captain and the first year for Pascarella and Solomon. All three players are seniors and qualified for the 2016 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll and 2016 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll.

Washington College is located in Chestertown, Maryland.

Inserra started all 18 games and was named All-Centennial Conference second team and Team MVP in the 2016 season. Inserra was also the 2016 Centennial Conference Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year for all sports and women's lacrosse.

Pascarella has been a main stay in the midfield since 2014 for the Shorewomen. In the 2016 season, she started in all 18 games and had a career-best of 18 ground balls and nine caused turnovers to go along with six goals and two assists for eight points.

The Shorewomen kick off their season Friday, Feb. 24 when they host Christopher Newport at 4 p.m.
