4 Crash Victims Rescued By Dix Hills Fire Department
Two of the people were unconscious, and 40 firefighters went to the crash site.

BRENTWOOD, NY — Four people were rescued by Dix Hills firefighters following a crash in Brentwood on Saturday morning.
The Dix Hills Fire Department was called to Commack Road and South Service Road near the Long Island Expressway at 6:43 a.m., public information officer Steve Silverman told Patch in an email. Firefighters found a car with two unconscious people who were trapped. A truck with two more people who were pinned inside with a large utility pole on top of the vehicle was nearby.
Dix Hills firefighters used heavy rescue "Jaws of Life" tools to free the four people. Dix Hills Fire Department Rescue Squad ambulances drove two patients to Southside Hospital and the other two to Good Samaritan Hospital.

Forty firefighters and rescue personnel responded with three heavy rescue trucks and four ambulances. The Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps helped by bringing an ambulance to the crash site. The Melville Fire Department provided standby coverage. Chief of Department Alan Berkowitz directed the firefighters and rescue squads.
