50 MPH Winds, Rain To Whip Suffolk County; Power Outages Likely

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Suffolk County. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph are likely Saturday night and Sunday.

The wind advisory will be in effect from 10 p.m. Saturday until 6 p.m. Sunday. The strong winds may blow down limbs, trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected, the NWS says.

The full forecast:

Saturday- A 30 percent chance of rain, mainly after 5pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 55. Wind chill values between 30 and 40 early. Light southwest wind becoming south 11 to 16 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph.

Saturday Night- Rain, mainly after 8pm. Temperature rising to around 57 by 3am. Breezy, with a south wind 16 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Sunday- Rain before 7am, then showers between 7am and 2pm. Temperature falling to around 46 by 5pm. Breezy, with a southwest wind 22 to 25 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Sunday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. Wind chill values between 25 and 30. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Monday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 36.

Tuesday- Sunny, with a high near 55.

Tuesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 43.

Wednesday- A 30 percent chance of rain before noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 52.

Wednesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Thanksgiving Day- Sunny, with a high near 44.
