Anti-Trump Protest Planned Outside Sen. Schumer’s Melville Office
About 100 people are expected to attend the nonviolent Tuesday rally with their picket signs in tow.

Protesters have planned to rally at the district offices of Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Sen. Charles Schumer in Melville on Tuesday.
The rally is one of several events scheduled throughout the day and week at the senator's’ office by various activist groups protesting President Donald Trump’s agenda. Last approximately 15,000 people participated in #resisttrumptuesdays. About 100 people are expected to attend the nonviolent Melville rally and will use creative messages and means to get their points across.

The rally kicks off at 1 p.m. at the entrance to Greenway Plaza Office Park, located at 135-145-155 Pinelawn Road. The main intent of the protest is to urge Schumer and Gillibrand to block, delay or oppose Trump’s Cabinet nominees and to ask the senators to fight for Merrick Garland’s appointment to the Supreme Court.

- Last week, a protest was held outside Schumer’s Park Slope home.
“On Tuesday, we’re sending a clear message to our senators…,” Mara Gerstein, the rally host, said in a press release. “We demand that our senators step up to lead the fight of their careers. We want our senators to know that we believe our most essential values, and our democracy itself, are at stake now. The people of Long Island are scared. They are scared of losing their health insurance, they are scared of living in a dictatorship. Trump said he would drain the swamp. Instead he is going to make the American people pay to preserve it.”
Suffolk County residents looking to join the protest can RSVP here. For those against the protest, hopefully you can avoid the area.
