Clare Rose To Close Melville Location: Report

The beverage company is a family-run business founded on Long Island.

Beverage distributor Clare Rose will be closing one of its Long Island locations as a result of industry changes, according to a Newsday report.

Clare Rose, a family-run business, serves Long Island from its Melville in East Yaphank locations.

The company announced the Melville location will close in early March while changes will affect operations at the Yaphank headquarters; about 14 employees were laid off, Newsday reports.

Patchogue native Clare Rose founded and built Clare Rose Inc. from a single-truck operation in the 1930s to what it is today. The business, which Rose passed to sons Mark and Fredric in the 1960s, is now run by a third generation of the Rose family.

Clare Rose died in 2010 at age 98.
