Suffolk Hit-And-Run Leaves Man Dead; Driver Arrested: Police
Police say the driver of a luxury sedan fled from the crash. He was arrested near his home shortly thereafter.

DIX HILLS, NY — Police arrested a man who they said was driving a luxury sedan in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian Saturday night in Dix Hills.
Romero Crossman, 22, of Dix Hills, was driving a 2009 BMW 528i around 11 p.m. Saturday on Straight Path/Seaman Neck Road when he hit a man, who was crossing the road at Clarendon Street, Suffolk County police said. Crossman then drove off, police said.
The pedestrian, identified as Maged Ayoub, 51, of Dix Hills, was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he died.

Police arrested Crossman near his home on Yorktown Road around 12:30 a.m. The BMW was impounded.
Crossman faces a charge with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. He was also issued a summons for driving without a license. Crossman was jailed overnight and scheduled to appear Sunday in First District Court in Central Islip.
