Dix Hills' Siegel Named Player of the Week

Former Hills West tennis star leads Ithaca College to consecutive victories.

Dix Hills resident Carly Siegel, a sophomore at Ithaca College, was named Empire 8 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week.

A 2011 graduate of Half Hollow Hills West High School, Siegel this past week was 2-0 in singles play and 1-1 in doubles.

Leading Ithaca to back-to-back victories over Nazareth and Cortland, she won second singles versus Nazareth, 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 on Monday. On Friday, Siegel won twice in a 6-1 victory over Cortland. She posted a 6-1, 6-4 victory at second singles and an 8-5 win in first doubles action and also won a first-round singles match at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northeast Regionals.

During her years as a student at Half Hollow Hills, Siegel played six years of varsity tennis and was also a member of the varsity golf team for four years and was a two-year participant on the school’s track & field team. She was named MVP in tennis and golf.
