Driver Hits Pothole On Long Island Expressway; 2 Lanes Closed

MELVILLE, NY — Two lanes on the Long Island Expressway have closed after at least one driver hit a pothole, Suffolk County police said. Police officers responded to the westbound lanes of the expressway around 2 p.m. Tuesday near Exit 49S for state Route 110, the state Department of Transportation said.

The transportation agency said the right and center lanes were closed.

Suffolk County police told Patch a driver ran over a pothole and about 10 vehicles pulled over. Crews are putting up signs notifying drivers the right and center lanes closed as of 2 p.m.

There were no injuries reported.
