
An 83-year old man was seriously injured Thursday in a multi-car hit-and-run accident on the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills.
According to police, Gloria Montoya was driving a 2013 Honda Accord in the center lane heading east on the Long Island Expressway when her vehicle was rear-ended by a dump truck that was traveling behind her and attempting to merge into the right lane at approximately 7:30 p.m.Â
The Accord then struck the concrete center divider and also hit a 2003 Toyota Solara that was traveling in the HOV lane, and a 2005 Dodge Magnum that was traveling in the center lane.

The driver of the Solara, William Broer, 83, of Hauppauge, was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.Â
Montoya, 49, of Commack, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.Â

The driver of the Magnum, Carlos Gonzalez, 35, of Central Islip, was not injured.
All three vehciles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.Â
