COMMACK, NY — Half Hollow Hills High School West sophomore Alex J. Nuzzolo has dedicated himself to community service, according to a news release from Suffolk County Legislator Susan A. Berland's Office. Berland recently recognized Nuzzolo with a proclamation.

Over the years, Alex has prepared and donated meals to the Ronald McDonald House, served as a volunteer coordinator at Help Mrs. Claus, volunteered at holiday food distribution events at various churches, prepared meals for Helping Hands Rescue Mission during Hurricane Sandy, and coordinated a fundraiser to donate money towards the purchase of an off-road wheelchair.

When Alex heard that his father’s employer, OpenText, would be donating $1,000,000 to food banks around the world, he was determined to see some of that money come to Long Island.
