Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued For Long Island

Yes, it is gorgeous outside right now, but strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Sunday. See the hour-by-hour forecast.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for most of Long Island.

"Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible Sunday afternoon into Sunday evening," the outlook says.

The outlook wasn't issued for eastern Suffolk County, but all of Suffolk has been placed in the "marginal" category for severe weather Sunday. Most of Nassau faces an upgraded "slight" risk.

Saturday Afternoon- Partly sunny, with a high near 77. South wind 6 to 9 mph.

Saturday Night- A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly between 11pm and 3am. Patchy fog after 11pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. Southeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

Sunday- A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11am. Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 73. South wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Sunday Night- Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. Southwest wind around 8 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Monday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 69. Northwest wind 9 to 14 mph.

Monday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 53.

Tuesday- Sunny, with a high near 71.

Tuesday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 57.
