Long Island Memorial Day Plans Could Be Affected By Thunderstorms

Find out which day will have the best beach weather this weekend.

Forecasters say there is a decent chance for thunderstorms on Monday, which could put a damper on any outdoor Memorial Day plans you may have.

The weekend starts off with scattered showers on Friday morning. The showers are expected to taper off Friday afternoon, with partly sunny skies for the rest of the day.

For those going to the Jones Beach Air Show this weekend, forecasters predict Saturday is probably the best day to go. Saturday will be warmer, sunnier and have a smaller chance of showers than Sunday.

"During the first part of the weekend, dry air in the wake of a departing storm will allow the weather to improve in some areas," AccuWeather Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams said. "However, as the weekend progresses, a second storm will move in and strengthen, which will cause an uptick in areas of rain."
