Long Island Towns Have Some Of Country's Largest Apartments
Two Long Island towns have the most spacious places to rent, according to a new report.
MELVILLE, NY — There are some huge houses on Long Island. But it turns out that, at least in some towns, it's not only the homeowners that have great space. Two Long Island communities were just named to a list of the places with the largest apartments in the country.
The website Apartment Guide just released a list of the cities with the largest apartments in the country, and it turns out that Melville and Rockville Centre made the list.
Apartment Guide broke the data down into three lists: largest studios, largest one-bedrooms and largest two-bedrooms. Melville and Rockville Centre were both on the two-bedroom list.

According to the list, Melville is No. 4 in the country, with average two-bedroom apartments that are 1,329 square feet (compared to the national average of 1,076 square feet). Rockville Centre came in at No. 42 (tied with Newport Beach, California), with an average two-bedroom apartment area of 1,189 square feet.
Unfortunately, this being Long Island, both towns had prices to match their large square footage. The average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Melville is $3,555, according to Apartment Guide, and $3,624 in Rockville Centre. That's among the highest on the list, only being beaten by communities in California and Jersey City.

The largest two-bedroom apartments are in Scheffield Village, Ohio. They have an average area of 1,530 square feet, and an average rent of only $1,612.
Apartment Guide said it put together the lists using September 2019 rental property inventory on its website. Some cities were excluded if they didn't have at least 20 apartments available for rent.
