Police ID Man Killed In Long Island Expressway Crash
The man, 93, drove off the road before crashing into a pole on Monday night, police say.
MELVILLE, NY — A man died in a Melville crash Monday night, Suffolk police said. Chester Szarejko, 93, of Queens, was killed in a single-car crash on the Long Island Expressway.
Szarejko was driving a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country east on the Long Island Expressway, between exits 48 and 49, when he drove off the road and hit a pole at 11:12 p.m., police said.
Szarejko was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. Police have not yet identified him.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
