MELVILLE, NY — A man was seriously injured in a crash after he was trying to cross the street in Melville Saturday night, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
David Vilaca, 26, of Melville, was crossing Route 110 from west to east, near Fletcher Place, against the light when he was hit by a 2016 Jeep Renegade around 8:20 p.m., police said. Vilaca was brought to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow to be treated for serious injuries, police said.
The Jeep's driver, Bradley Zucker, 22, of West Babylon, and a woman in the passenger seat were not injured, police said.

The Jeep was impounded for a safety check. Detectives ask anyone with information on the crash to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
