Northern State Parkway Exit Will Experience Weekend Closures
An exit on the Northern State Parkway and Deer Park Road Interchange is expected to be closed for two weekends in July.
DIX HILLS, NY—Drivers can expect the exit 42N ramp on westbound Northern State Parkway to northbound Suffolk County Route 35 (Deer Park Road) to be closed for two weekends in July, the NYS Department of Transportation announced.
The Town of Huntington ramp will be closed during the following times:
- Friday, July 12 10 p.m. to Sunday, July 14 8 a.m.
- Friday, July 19 10 p.m. to Sunday, July 21 8 a.m.
The exit 42S (State Route 231) ramp will serve as an alternative for northbound access while closures are in place.

The cause for the closure is the need for underground utility and drainage work under and adjacent to the ramp, as well as pavement resurfacing. Electronic message signs and detour signs will be in place to aid drivers.
Work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to bad weather.

The work is part of the $15.7 million safety improvement project to upgrade the interchange, including construction of a new parkway entrance ramp, extension of existing acceleration and deceleration lanes, as well as a new traffic signal at Deforest Road and Route 231.
