Publishers Clearing House Gives Reason For Melville Closing
Over 100 employees are expected to be laid off as the company is relocating to Minnesota.

MELVILLE, NY — Publishers Clearing House, a publishing company that markets merchandise and magazine subscriptions with sweepstakes and prize-based games, is closing its 265 Spagnoli Road, Melville office, according to the New York State Department of Labor. The facility is relocating to Minnesota, and 109 employees are expected to lose their jobs by the April 24 closing date.
The employees are not represented by a union.
"Following a lot of thought and analyses, PCH decided not to renew our lease on our Melville Response Mail Processing Facility," Christopher Irving, vice president of Consumer & Legal Affairs at the company, told Patch. "We will be moving these operations to Minnesota where we already have an existing fulfillment operation."

Irving said the move will allow the company more flexibility and efficiency. Minnesota's location will also lead to a faster turnaround time on customer entries and product orders for consumers from coast to coast.
"This decision was extremely difficult and was not a reflection of our terrific group of employees," Irving said. "The PCH Human Resources team is working closely with impacted employees to help identify new opportunities."

The move will not impact the company's headquarters that has remained in Jericho since its founding in 1953.
