Social Photos: The Great Cow Harbor 10K Run 2015
Long Islanders really "MOOved it" through those 6.2 miles on a beautiful Saturday morning.
Cow Harbor Day Weekend in Northport officially kicked off at the sound of the starting gun at the Great Cow Harbor 10K run on Saturday morning.
The race brings thousands of runners, from elities to beginners, to Northport each year to run the challenging, yet scenic course.
The winner of the 10 kilometer race through Northport Village was former University of Oregon runner Parker Stinson. Stinson, 23, cruised through the finish line in a time of 29 minutes and 11.94 seconds, beating the second place runner by nearly 16 seconds.
The top female finisher was 2014 winner Brianne Nelson, 34, of Golden Colorado, who ran a time of 32 minutes and 53.27 seconds, beating her 2014 time by about 12 seconds.
Top Long Island male and female finishers were:
- Brendan Martin, 26, of Smithtown— 30:39.87
- Leonora Petrina, 33, of Bayport— 36:48.02
In addition to the 10k race, there was a 2k Fun Run/Walk for young runners and those who aren’t ready to run/crawl up James Street just yet.
