The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for parts of the region, including Nassau County and western Suffolk County:
At 635 PM EST, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Hackensack to Battery Park to near Sandy Hook. Movement was east at 55 mph.
Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with these storms.

Levittown and Huntington Station around 710 PM EST.
Norwalk and Commack around 715 PM EST.
A dense fog advisory is also in effect until 9 p.m across Long Island.
