Special Weather Statement Issued For Long Island

The National Weather Service has issued the following special weather statement for Long Island:

Fog will remain across the region through this evening, with visibilities generally around 1 mile. At times the fog will become locally dense and visibilities will vary with local visibilities a quarter of a mile or less. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and to be alert for sudden reduced visibilities. Allow extra time to reach your destination, and if you encounter fog, reduce speed and increase following distance with the vehicle in front of you. And drive with low beams. Visibilities are expected to improve toward midnight.

Tuesday Night- A 50 percent chance of light rain, mainly before 1am. Areas of fog before 10pm. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low around 38. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 9 mph in the evening.

Wednesday- Sunny, with a high near 46. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 23. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

Thursday- Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. Wind chill values between 15 and 25. Northwest wind 7 to 9 mph.

Thursday Night- Partly cloudy, with a low around 18. North wind around 10 mph.

Friday- Sunny, with a high near 35.

Friday Night- Clear, with a low around 24.

Saturday- Sunny, with a high near 46.

Saturday Night- Mostly clear, with a low around 29.

Sunday- Sunny, with a high near 48.
