Nearly 15,000 Power Outages on Long Island As Storms Strike
Special weather statements have been issued with strong storms in the area.

...A LINE OF STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL AFFECT CENTRAL SUFFOLK COUNTY...
At 637 PM EDT, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Gardiners Island to near Shinnecock Hills to near Patchogue. Movement was southeast at 25 mph.

Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with these storms.
Locations impacted include...
Riverhead, Centereach, Shirley, Medford, Southold, Manorville, Patchogue, Middle Island, Wading River, Center Moriches, Mattituck, Southampton, Westhampton, Sag Harbor and Bridgehampton.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.

At 631 PM EDT, a strong thunderstorm was located over Cold Spring Harbor, or over Huntington Station, moving southeast at 25 mph.
Winds in excess of 40 mph are possible with this storm.
Locations impacted include... Islip, Jamaica, Flushing, Brentwood, Levittown, Freeport, Valley Stream, Commack, Huntington Station, Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Glen Cove, Plainview, Garden City and Massapequa
