Summer Art Adventure for Kids Age 5-14 Moves to New Location

The Art League of Long Island's Popular Summer Program Moves to the Paumanok Elementary School in Dix Hills in 2019

The Art League of Long Island’s Summer Art Adventure program is moving to the Paumanok Elementary School in Dix Hills for the summer of 2019. Now in its 24th year, Summer Art Adventure offers kids and teens fun and creative activities led by dedicated art education professionals.

Art Adventurers learn about contemporary and historical art figures, employing their techniques to explore a variety of visual arts mediums such as painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, found-object art and more. Age appropriate projects are geared to expand students’ artistic horizons, and the atmosphere is inspiring and fun. Special guest visitors (human and animal) in select sessions round out the fun! A salon-style art exhibit for family and friends is held at the end of each session. Flexible options allow parents and caregivers to choose one or all program sessions.

Kids ages 5-10 participate in weekly activities centered on exciting themes. Five weekly sessions start July 8 and end the week of August 5. Pre-teens and teens ages 11-14 find inspiration from the weekly themes, with a focus on developing essential higher level art skills in one or both 10-day sessions beginning July 8 & July 22. Programs for Early Childhood (ages 5 & 6) 9am-11:30am, Young Artists (ages 7-10) 9am-2pm, and Mature Artists (ages 11-14) 9am-2pm take place in air-conditioned rooms at the Paumanok Elementary School at 1 Seaman Neck Road in Dix Hills.

The Art League continues its partnership with Park Shore Day Camp to offer kids ages 5-9 the choice of mornings (9am-11:30am) at Summer Art Adventure and afternoons of indoor/outdoor recreation at Park Shore’s nearby 15-acre campus. Busing from the Paumanok Elementary School will be provided by Park Shore.

In addition, the Summer Pre-College Portfolio Program for ages 15 & up offers high school students a supportive environment where they can fully immerse themselves in the creative process and build their portfolios for college. Two three-week sessions start July 8 and July 29 and take place at the Art League’s fully air-conditioned, state of the art facility in Dix Hills.
