Susan Berland Sworn In For Second Term On Suffolk Legislature
Berland was re-elected in November.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — Susan A. Berland was sworn in to serve her second full term on the Suffolk County Legislature during the Legislature’s 2020 Organizational Meeting, her office announced Wednesday.
At the meeting, Berland joined her colleagues in a bipartisan vote to elect Rob Calarco as the new Presiding Officer of the Legislature. She also put forth the nomination of Legislator Kara Hahn to become the Legislature’s Deputy Presiding Officer.
"The opportunity to serve the residents of the 16th Legislative District is an honor and a privilege," Berland said. "I would like to thank my constituents for entrusting me with the responsibility of representing them for a second term on the Legislature. I look forward to working with my colleagues and the community to further the progress we made during the course of my first term as legislator and to find innovative solutions to the issues we continue to face."

Berland was re-elected in November when she defeated her Republican rival, Hector Gavilla, at the polls. The 16th Legislative District encompasses Commack, Dix Hills, East Northport, Elwood, Melville and South Huntington in the Town of Huntington, Deer Park in the Town of Babylon and Brentwood and North Bay Shore in the Town of Islip.
