Melville LIE Crash: Tractor-Trailer Had To Avoid Vehicle: SCPD

MELVILLE, NY — A truck crashed into an overpass on the Long Island Expressway in Melville on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

A vehicle entering the expressway crossed in front of a tractor-trailer around 2:40 p.m., police said. The trailer's driver swerved to avoid the vehicle and crashed into the cement structure under the overpass, police said. No one was injured, according to police.

The right and center lanes of the westbound L.I.E. were closed at exit 49 in Melville for hours, police said.
