$70K Machine Stolen from Downtown Port Chester Business

Have you seen this black GMC Yukon XL, or the yellow tree stumper and/or trailer its occupants stole midday on Nov. 6?

A 40-year-old Port Chester resident is calling for help after the theft last week of a $70,000 piece of machinery is devastating his family and business.

A black GMC Yukon XL (with New York plates, pictured) made off with a yellow Vermeer Stump Grinder and trailer at about 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 6, from the front lot at Gianna Land Management on Townsend Street near the Byram River.

“It’s definitely impacting my family and livelihood,” said the company’s president, Paul DiMeglio, a former U.S. marine and Yonkers native who has owned the business for eight years.

Port Chester police have been notified of the theft and are working diligently with other agencies to try and recover the equipment. The authorities have been using surveillance images provided by nearby Byram Mason Supply to help with the search.

“I truly appreciate everyone who has come together to try and solve this,” DiMeglio told Port Chester Patch.

The stump grinder is about the size of a compact car, and the license plate on the trailer stolen with it is AS-83731, he said.

DiMeglio is offering a cash reward to anyone who has information that could lead to the return of the equipment and/or arrest of those responsible. Tipsters’ information will be kept confidential, he said.
