Miss Anything? This Week in Review
A look back at Harrison news during the week of June 21.
This week marked graduation for the Harrison class of 2010. The week ended with a wonderful ceremony for the senior class, but there was plenty of other news early in the week.
On Monday we heard about how funding cuts could affect Westchester libraries, including Harrison and West Harrison's.
The Harrison Fire Department declared that last week's fire on Puritan Woods Road was caused by staining materials left under a deck. On Wednesday, a malfunctioning ceiling fan caused an electrical fire in a Purchase country club. With three reported fires in the Harrison area taking place in one week, we took a look at some national numbers involving fire prevention. Harrison Mayor/Supervisor Joan Walsh also mentioned the fires in her weekly column.

A museum on the SUNY Purchase campus will to maintain educational development programs. The bill was one of ten passed last week to improve the arts in Westchester County.
In sports news, the Titans Hockey team, which is a high school team made up of players from Harrison and Rye, will have a 2010 - 11 season despite cuts in funding. Parents banded together and were able to raise enough money to salvage next season.Â

With the school year over, it was also time this week to look back at the entire year in Harrison sports.
Earlier in the week, we met with Harrison High School's graduating valedictorian as he prepared for his graduation speech and, further down the line, his first semester at Harvard University this fall. A pair of graduating twin brothers will also be going to college in the fall, going to separate schools after spending most of their childhood side-by-side.
Harrison's graduation was held on Friday on the SUNY Purchase campus. The school district sent-off 222 seniors with a ceremony Â
