ENTA Hosts 2nd Halloween Blood Drive with American Red Cross

Tarrytown, N.Y. (November 14, 2018) – ENT and Allergy Associates LLP (ENTA) hosted its second annual Halloween blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross on Wednesday, October 31. The drive was open to the public and several members of the ENTA staff participated. A total of 44 donors registered with a majority participating in costume. ENTA ended the day with 35 donations, potentially saving an estimated 105 lives. The blood donations will benefit patients of all ages, including those battling cancer, trauma, Sickle Cell Disease, burns and other chronic illnesses.

According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood but less than 38-percent of the population are actually eligible to give blood or platelets. In order to meet the dire need, the organization must collect more than 13,000 blood donations every day. Donors of all blood types are needed, especially those with type O. Type O negative is the universal blood type that can be safely transfused to anyone and is often used to treat trauma patients. Type O positive is the most common blood type and can be transfused to Rh-positive patients of any blood type.
