Gordon Leader Romita Get Util Workers Union of America Local 1-2

Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 Joins Gordon, Leader and Romita Team

Harrison, NY– The Utility Workers Union of America (UWUA) Local 1-2 AFL-CIO, one of the largest unions in the state, has endorsed the Moving Harrison Forward team of Frank Gordon for Mayor and Lauren Leader and Michael Romita for Town Board. The UWUA represents tens of thousands of members working in the electric, gas, water, and nuclear industries in the New York area.

UWUA Local 1-2 President James Shillitto said:

“I am pleased to inform you that Local 1-2 endorses your candidacies for Mayor and Town Board. We hope that we have a bright future working together to find solutions to better manage [Westchester Joint Water Works] and to see that our Members receive fair treatment in the workplace.”

The list of officials and labor organizations who have chosen to endorse the Moving Harrison Forward team continues to grow:

  • NY State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli
  • Building and Construction Trades Council of Westchester and Putnam Counties
  • Teamsters Local 456
  • United Association, Local 21 Plumbers/Steamfitters/HVACR of Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Ulster Counties
  • Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2
  • Westchester-Putnam Counties AFL-CIO Central Labor Body
  • Westchester County Legislators whose districts encompass all of Harrison: Ben Boykin, Board Chairman; Catherine Parker, Majority Leader; and Nancy Barr, Chairwoman of the Environment, Health and Energy Committee

In a joint statement, Gordon, Leader, and Romita said, “We are honored to receive this acknowledgment from the men and women who keep the power running and water flowing to our homes, businesses, schools and hospitals. Members of UWUA Local 1-2 are our community’s unsung heroes -- without them our daily activities would not be possible.”
