Harrison Baseball to Honor Lost Teammate at Annual Game

The Harrison High School Huskies will play the Rye Garnets April 22.

HARRISON, NY — Please join the Harrison Varsity Baseball team April 22 for the third Annual Andrew Gurgitano Memorial Game.

Gurgitano, a popular 16-year-old junior and baseball player at Harrison, died at home of a rare spontaneous stroke Nov. 8, 2014.

The Huskies will host the Garnets of Rye High School at Silver Lake Park in West Harrison. A scholarship in Andrew's name will be awarded to a deserving senior player from each team. Game time is 4 p.m.

The organizers of the event said:

Andrew was a Harrison High School student who tragically passed away at the age of 16. Andrew was a diligent student, a competitive pitcher for Harrison High School and an outstanding role model. His passions in life were his family, his friends and his love for the game of baseball. He exemplified hard work, determination, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field. His positive energy and enthusiasm inspired not only his teammates, but all who were lucky enough to know him.
