"We need your help to make sure Harrison counts," says Mayor Ron Belmont.

From Mayor Ron Belmont
I would like to extend my warmest wishes for a happy and healthy new year to all Harrison residents. I hope you, and your family, had a peaceful and joyous holiday season, appreciating and celebrating the good fortune in all our lives. As we begin a brand new decade, I am happy to report that Harrison continues to build on the accomplishments of the last several years.
In addition to our impressive Aaa bond rating from Moody’s, Harrison’s 2020 Budget was adopted and remains under Governor Cuomo’s mandated tax cap. New police officers were added to the Harrison Police Department. DPW staff remains steady and buildings and equipment have been kept up to date. The Recreation Department continues to increase and improve their programs, with a record number of residents using our facilities. I am proud to say we have made great strides while keeping tax increases in check, maintaining a healthy reserve and providing all necessary municipal services. Building on this momentum is a priority and I look forward to the challenges and opportunities in the year ahead.

I am happy to report that the Harrison Police Department recently promoted William Curow to the rank of Captain and Kevin Wong to the rank of Sergeant. In addition, four new police officers, Michael Pellegrino, Andrew Clokey, Nicholas Conte and Anastas Papazov have joined the Harrison Police Department. The new officers were sworn in at a recent ceremony in Town Hall and will complete their training before receiving their assignments. I am completely confident that these new officers will carry out their duties in a professional manner and will be an asset to our community.
Congratulations are in order for the three Harrison fire recruits who recently graduated from the Westchester County Career Chiefs Fire Academy. Adam Straface, Ricky Colasacco and Michael Marchione were awarded certificates of completion by the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services.

It gives me great pleasure to bring your attention to Harrison resident Dennis Nardone. Dennis was recently inducted by Westchester County into the Westchester County Senior Citizen Hall of Fame. He and his colleague Tonny Guido co-host a weekly radio show on WVOX, bringing current affairs and local stories of interest to their faithful listeners. To hear the morning chat show, tune in to 1460, on your dial, daily from 6-9 am.
One of the most important events in Harrison in 2020 will be the US Census. We all know this process determines US Congressional districts, but did you know the census also sets federal and state funding levels for our schools and libraries? It also affects the town's share of sales tax revenues among other important items. We need your help to make sure Harrison counts in the 2020 Census. The Harrison Complete Count Committee invites you to attend an informational and organizing meeting at the downtown library on Monday, January 13, at 7 PM.
In closing, when signing and dating legal documents, it is best to refrain from using 20 as the year 2020. For example, March 3 rd , 2020, being written as 3/3/20, could be easily modified to 3/3/2017. Protect yourself. Do not abbreviate 2020.
