Harrison Youth Council Names New Program Director
The council, which aims to decrease the risk of substance use and problem gambling in youth, offers free counseling to youths and families.

The Harrison Youth Council is pleased to announce their new Program Director Amanda Ammirati. Amanda is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) who works with adolescents, adults, and families, using an eclectic approach to tailor therapy to each individual’s identified needs.
Such needs include but are not limited to depression, anxiety, various life transitions, chronic stress, family discord, trauma, self-esteem, and early childhood experiences that may impact current functioning. Amanda also has five years experience working with children struggling with substance use and mental health-related concerns. She is a graduate from Stony Brook University with a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and holds a post-graduate certification in Object Relations Psychotherapy from the International Psychotherapy Institute.

Ms. Ammirati has implemented prevention programs within schools and worked closely with various community coalitions, local government and police departments on executing environmental strategies and prevention materials.
The Harrison Youth Council has been serving the residents of Harrison for 40 years utilizing a short-term, solution-focused approach and aims to decrease the risk of substance use and problem gambling in youth. The agency offers confidential counseling to youth ages 5-20 and their families. We offer programs in Harrison schools to teach conflict resolution, effective communication and promote healthy choices. The agency also assists youth with job placement through the Y.E.S. Program.
