HHS’ Alex Miller Sets New School Record on Way To States
Harrison High School senior set new school record in the IM and advances to the NYS Boys Swimming and Diving Championships
Congratulations to HHS senior Alex Miller who set a new school record in the 200-yard Individual Medley event at the Section 1 Championships on Thursday, February 7 with a time of 2:00.10. This time qualified him for the New York State Boys Swimming and Diving Championships to be held on March 1 at Eisenhower Park on Long Island.
Alex actually broke the record, set by Bryan Pon in 2012, on Wednesday in the preliminary round of the Section 1 Championship with a time of 2:01.86 and then went on to beat his own record the next day by almost two seconds. He was also the Conference 3 Champion in this event.
The Boys 200-yard Medley Relay also had a personal best for the year. The Medley Relay team of sophomore Kevin Pico (Backstroke), senior Alex Miller (Breaststroke), senior Steven Kwon (Butterfly), and senior Charlie Rube (Freestyle) posted a time of 1:50.22 and finished in 14th place in the Section 1 Swimming finals. Steve Kwon finished in 19th in the IM in preliminaries and 22nd in the Butterfly in the prelims. Alex Miller also finished in 8th place in the 100-yard Breaststroke but his time did not qualify him for the NYS Championships in that event.
