HHS IB Design Students Visit Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Museum

Harrison High School International Baccalaureate Design Students Learn From History

The Harrison High School IB Design Year 2 students visited the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Museum, located in the Carnegie Mansion on 5th Avenue in New York City. The Museum is the only museum in the United States devoted exclusively to historic and contemporary design.

The IB Design students who are seniors have been working on writing their design project papers and the trip to the museum allowed the students to see the many individual pieces of work that encompass every aspect of the IB Design curriculum.

“On this trip, students saw textiles including smart material, stereolithography, 3D printed designs, scale models, and so much more,” said Diane Frawley, HHS IB Design teacher. “They also explored the immersion room, where visitors can see wall covering examples from floor to ceiling and design their own.”
