HHS Wrestling Team Wins League and Takes Fifth in Inaugural County Championships

HHS Wrestling Team Will Compete in Divisional Championships This Weekend

The Harrison High School Varsity Wrestling team won the League Championship and took fifth place in the inaugural Westchester County Championships among a field of 29 teams from across the county. Harrison Coach Vin Nicita and Yonkers Coach Pete Vulpone were instrumental in creating this new championship. In dramatic fashion, senior Frankie Barchella took down a tough opponent from New Rochelle to win the title in the 120 pound class and earn outstanding senior wrestler honors.

Sophomore Jay Martins captured the 106 lb title while senior Dom Schepis took second place honors in the 182 lb class and sophomore Daniel Choe finished in fifth place in the 113 lb weight class.

The team will compete Saturday, February 7th, 2015 in the Divisional Championships to be held at Horace Greeley High School.
