Holiday Events Coming Up Quick In Harrison: Mayor's Column
It's time also to help out The Holiday Project, created in an effort to spread holiday cheer, to families in need, right here in Harrison.

From Mayor Ron Belmont
I would like to take this time to recognize the Interfaith Congregational Laymen’s Committee (ICLC) of Harrison. Every year, the Committee extends a town-wide invitation to an important celebration. This year the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Savior hosted an assembly that underscores the theme “Call to Stewardship”. It was a wonderful event and provided an opportunity for all attendees to recognize the richness and value in each other’s faiths. The ICLC is an interfaith fellowship, of lay representatives, from our local congregations and, as always, I was thrilled to be part of this very important community gathering.
The Harrison Police Department is urging the community to utilize the prescription drug drop box located inside the police station. This convenience allows residents to dispose of unused and expired medications, anonymously. The Harrison Police Department will maintain custody of the deposited drugs and dispose of them according to their normal procedures for the custody and destruction of controlled dangerous substances. The receptacle is installed in the main entrance of the station, within view of law enforcement officers, in an area in which the public may be admitted. For any additional information, please call the police department at 967-5111.

Currently, those in need range in age from infant to the elderly. Through the generosity of merchants, and with monies collected, each sponsored family receives a grocery gift card and gift cards for various requested items. If you are interested in sponsoring one or more families, please mail a check, payable to the Town of Harrison (please note The Holiday Project on the check’s memo line) for $150 per family, to The Holiday Project at P.O Box 47, Harrison, NY 10528. This is the perfect time of year to help our neighbors feel the joy of this year's holiday season.

Additional homes are needed for children whose parents are unable to care for them. Financial support and training for foster parents will be provided.

In closing, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all a safe and peaceful holiday weekend.
