Isaias: Metro-North Working To Repair Damage In Hudson Valley

The commuter railroad suspended service on all lines Tuesday.

At 4:33 p.m. Tuesday, Metro-North posted on its website that "service on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines continues to be suspended due to extensive damage sustained from the effects of high winds and rain caused by Tropical Storm Isaias. Crews are working vigorously to repair damage caused by multiple fallen trees on each line, resulting in power & signal outages, overhead wires down and track infrastructure damage. We’ll resume service once trees have been cleared and repairs made to allow for the safe movement of trains.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Service on all Metro-North lines has been shut down due to high winds and hazardous conditions caused by Tropical Storm Isaias, Metro-North Railroad reported on its website.

Shortly after 2:30 p.m. , the railroad said, "Metro-North service on the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines is currently suspended due to high winds and hazardous conditions caused by Tropical Storm Isaias. We’ll resume service as soon as conditions safely allow.

Service on the New Haven Line was suspended earlier in the day.

Company officials said they have personnel and equipment pre-positioned to be prepared for storm-related issues.
