Mark National Farmers Market Week With A Visit Near Harrison
There are markets all around Harrison so there's sure to be a time, date and place you can get to for fresh produce and so much more.

HARRISON, NY — Aug. 4-10 is National Farmers Market Week. And it being August, it's time for bountiful harvests, with the tables piled high at markets near Harrison: Larchmont, New Rochelle, Rye and White Plains.
Tomatoes, fruit, corn, lettuces, potatoes, chard — there's so much to taste and try. Plus the breads, herbs, soups, soaps, oils and other artisan-made goods.
"Given that theme, and the August harvest, on the weeks you're in town please pledge to buy lotsof food in August directly from regional farmers and from food artisans that source ingredients from them. Your farmers will notice the support. And you'll ensure you don't let summer slide by without meals to remember once fall settles in," said Steven Bates of the Pleasantville Farmers Market.

Farmers market benefit our communities in many ways: it stimulates the local economy, increases access to fresh, healthy food, promotes sustainable farming practices that protect our water and soil, and preserves farmland, say the folks at the Nyack Chamber of Commerce, which hosts the big Thursday market in Nyack.
