MVP Hoops Madness

Annual fundraiser on April 21 at the School of the Holy Child

MVP Basketball Camp will hold its annual fundraiser on April 21 from 5-9 at the School of the Holy Child in Rye. Monies raised will go to support our Youth Development Scholarship Fund. MVP Basketball Camp is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit athletic organization that has been running summer basketball camps in Westchester for 22 years. The organization has provided opportunities for economically disadvantaged children, ages 6-15, to attemd basketball camp for at least one week each summer.

MVP's goal is to give out at least 300 scholarship weeks each summer. This past year's recipeints were: 74% male and 26% female; 70% African-American, 20% Hispanic, 8% Causcasian, and 2% Asian. Many of these campers are referred through social service agencies in Yonkers, White Plains, Mount Vernon, and New Rochelle. These campers join paying campers from towns like Harrison, Larchmont, Mamaroneck, Rye, and Scarsdale. The result is that new friendships are made, stereotypes are broken, and everyone learns valuable life lessons through their actions on and off the basketball court.
