New York's Richest ZIP Code Is In Hudson Valley Town

A Hudson Valley town is among the very richest communities in the country. Bloomberg recently evaluated IRS data to come up with the nation's priciest communities.

The most expensive in New York? That would be 10577, which is Harrison. Actually, it's the Purchase neighborhood of Harrison.

Purchase is so expensive, Bloomberg ranked it as the 5th most-affluent ZIP code in the entire country. Harrison, where the average income is $976K, wraps White Plains to the east in Westchester County and rubs shoulders with Greenwich, Connecticut. Students in public schools attend the high-ranked Harrison school district. There are five country clubs. Other Harrison addresses are in ZIP codes 10528, 10573, 10580, 10604 and 10605.

Currently, the highest-priced home for sale in Purchase is listed at $6.95 million. The cheapest home on the market now in Purchase is this home, priced at $850K.

So what's the richest ZIP code in America, according to Bloomberg? That would be Fisher Island, near Miami Beach, Fla. The average income there was $2.5 million in 2015.
