Police Blotter: Man Arrested for Sending Package Violating Family Court Order

Arrests by the Harrison Police Department from July 23 - 29.

Driving With a Suspended License

On July 28, at about 11:40 a.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle near the intersections of Nelson and New Haven Avenues after noticing that the car did not have working stop lights.

When police spoke with the female 56-year-old driver she admitted to not having a driver's license. A police check confirmed that the driver had lost her driving privileges on two separate occasions in 2007 and 2008.

The woman was transported to police headquarters were she was processed and released. She is due in court on August 10.

Criminal Contempt

On July 28, at about 5:15 p.m., Harrison police arrested 55-year-old Ricardo Tawada for criminal contempt after they say he violated a full stay-away order of protection issued by family court when he mailed a package.

Tawada admitted to mailing a package and said it was for his daughter. Bail was set at $250 and Tawada is due in court on August 10.

Marijuana Possession

On July 29, at about 9 a.m., Harrison police responded to reports of a suspicious male near a Shell gas station on Underhill Avenue. The male, later identified as 23-year-old Justin Walker, was standing outside a vehicle when police arrived.

The responding officer reported smelling marijuana while approaching the car and asked Walker if he had marijuana in his vehicle. Walker admitted to having marijuana in the front pocket of his driver's seat. When police searched the pocket they found marijuana and a blue pipe containing burnt marijuana residue.

Walker was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was issued an appearance ticket for August 3. He was released without bail.

On July 29, at about 9:30 p.m. Harrison police stopped a vehicle traveling on Mamaroneck Avenue because its license plate lights were out. After making the stop police asked the driver, a 23-year-old male, for his license and registration. 

A police computer check revealed that the man's driver's license had been suspended. The driver was arrested, processed and released at the scene.

On July 29 at about 11 p.m., Harrison police stopped a vehicle on White Plains Avenue for failing to signal a lane change. After making the stop police asked the driver, a 28-year-old male, for his license and registration. 

A police computer check revealed that the driver's license had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest at the scene and issued a summons to court on August 10.

On July 29 at about 11:15 p.m. Harrison police stopped a vehicle driving on Mamaroneck Avenue for having a headlamp out. After making the stop police asked the driver, a 25-year-old male, for his license and registration. 

A police computer check revealed that the driver's license had been suspended. The driver was placed under arrest and processed at the scene. He was issued a summons to court on August 10.
