Visitation, Service for Walter Mallinson
A Harrison K-9 officer and a hero of 9/11, he died Sept. 9 of a related cancer.

Walter Mallinson, 56, passed away on September 9, 2017 after a long and courageous battle. Officer Mallinson was a hero police officer and victim of a 9/11 related cancer. He is remembered for his selfless service and died just two days before the anniversary of that horrific day.
Walter was a K-9 officer with the Harrison Police Department.
"Walter Mallinson was a dedicated member of the community, his family and our department," said Chief Michael Olsey, Harrison Police Department. "He spent the last 8 years of service as a K-9 handler where he was responsible for numerous arrests, and locating several lost persons. His presence in our community will be solely missed by all."

He was an avid fisherman.
He is the beloved husband of Patricia (nee Powell), cherished father of Trooper Sean P. Mallinson and Kaitlin Anne Mallinson, dear brother of Chuck, John, the late Beth Cassidy and many beloved nieces and nephews.

To honor his life and service, friends may call on Tuesday, September 12th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home, 767 East Boston Post Road, Mamaroneck, NY. A mass of the Resurrection will be held on Wednesday, September 13th at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great R.C. Church. Committal will be private.
