Affordable Housing Apartments Up For Grabs In Brooklyn Heights
23 new apartments hit the affordable housing lottery, some for those making around $23,000 and others with a $80,000 minimum salary.

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Two groups of new apartments in Brooklyn Heights just hit the affordable housing lottery. Some are available to those making at least $22,389, but some require a salary as high as $79,543 to move in.
The 23 apartments are in the building at 146 Pierrepont Street include studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom options. Applications for the affordable units began Jan. 25.
Most of the apartments — including four studios, five one-bedrooms and nine two-bedrooms — will go to those making 60 percent of the area median income. This comes out to between $22,389 and $29,240 for the studio units, a minimum of $25,509 for the one-bedroom and a minimum of $42,618 for the two bedrooms. The maximum for these depends on the number of people who want to live in the apartment.

The units go for $596 per month for the studio, $685 per month for the one-bedroom and $1,183 per month for the two-bedroom.
The other set of apartments — one studio, one one-bedroom and three two-bedrooms — will go to those making 130 percent of the area median income. Those making at least $79,543 can apply for the studio, $85,269 for the one-bedroom and $102,618 for the two-bedroom, with the maximums depending on the number of people per apartment.

The new building includes an attended lobby, a fitness center, a resident lounge, a children's playroom and a roof terrace.
